Protecting and Preventing Home Damage
Painting the interior of your home preserves your home and prevents damage from occurring in the future, both within and outside the walls. The majority of interior walls are built of materials that absorb moisture naturally. Too much absorption over time can cause walls to weaken, which might jeopardize the structural integrity of your home.
Mold growth is aided by moisture inside walls, which can be hazardous to one's health. Paint is used to prevent moisture from penetrating your home's porous walls. When it comes to interior painting preparation work, we at Seattle Skyline Painting are always on the lookout for damp spots on your walls. When moisture is covered up, this will only cause you more problems, therefore if we come across any during the prep work, we first identify why there is moisture and then proceed to fix it before moving on.
By painting the interior in your home, not only protects your property but also improves the air quality inside, making it better for you and your family to live in! To safeguard and avoid damage to your property, contact your local Seattle Painting Company now for an interior painting quote.
Why is my epoxy garage floor peeling?
Have you recently painted your Seattle garage floor and now you find the garage paint peeling off your floor? There are few reasons why the epoxy on your garage floor is flaking or peeling off.
The most common reason why the epoxy floor coating doesn’t stay on your floor is insufficient floor prep. This happens usually with DIY epoxy jobs or when hiring an inexperienced floor installer.
When applying epoxy to the floor, you need a clean surface to which the epoxy can bond. If your concrete floor is not cleaned from all dirt, grime, oils, and stains and the concrete pores are not open enough for the epoxy to penetrate and bond, the result is a floor coating that just sits on top of the surface.
When the floor is acid etched like with many DIY projects and the acid is not removed properly, there is a thin layer of loose concrete dust that sits on top of the concrete slab. When the epoxy is applied, it bonds to the concrete dust than to the concrete slab, resulting in peeling off shortly after application.
Just like with painting doors or old furniture, you would want to first remove any traces of old wax or paint, before applying fresh coats of paint. The best way to do this is by sanding off anything that sits on top of the door and cleaning the residue dust.
At Seattle Skyline Painting Services we do exactly the same when preparing your garage concrete floor for epoxy coating. We first diamond grind the entire floor, to remove everything that’s been stuck and soaked into it. We then vacuum the floor to remove any concrete dust, that might be blocking the concrete pores. When we are 100% sure the concrete pores are open, we apply the epoxy. This way we know that the epoxy will penetrate and bond with the concrete, rather than just sitting on top of it.
When the epoxy is bonded with the floor, it makes sure that when you drive over your garage floor, your car tires will not peel off the epoxy coating.
What if my garage floor is already peeling?
Not a problem, our heavy-duty concrete grinder will grind the flaky coating off the garage floor and restore it back to bare concrete ready for the new garage floor coating to be applied. There is more work involved to grind it off but this is why we invest in the proper grinding machines to do the job so this doesn’t happen again to Seattle Home Owners.

Is it worth it to epoxy your Seattle garage floor?
Often Seattle homeowners ask us while painting their homes if epoxy garage floors are worth it. We normally ask these questions in return.
Is your garage floor dusty? Epoxy will element dust saving your home from concrete dust being trampled in every time you go from your garage to inside your home.
Does your garage floor stain easily? Epoxy garage flooring is a multi-layered surface protecting your concrete from soaking in oil, antifreeze, and other liquids in your garage.
Is your garage floor hard to clean? Epoxy flooring is super easy to clean, brooms glide across the surface making it almost effortless, any spilled liquid can be wiped up easily because it cannot penetrate into the surface.
Epoxy flake flooring is a great option for a textured and appealing garage floor. Epoxy flake chips are frequently paired with three distinct colors, making it easy to get creative, such as if you want a floor that combines your favorite sports team's colors.
Epoxy Flooring is perfect for Seattle basements, garages, offices, man caves, and other spaces where a durable, appealing flooring option is wanted. The same option is available for outside, such as around pools, patios, or sidewalks.
What is VALUE from a painting contractor?
We all would like to assume that every contractor is being fair and honest from the time they start the bid process to the end of the completed project. The truth is that might not always be the case. Quite possibly you could be hiring an illegal immigrant, someone who doesn’t pay their taxes, a contractor who isn’t insured licensed / bonded, or the worst thing of all someone who does not do what they say they are going to do. Here at Seattle Skyline Painting we strive to provide family friendly service to each and every customer. No matter how small or large the job may be, we stand behind our products and craftsmanship with a warranty to boot. If we say we are going to lightly sand and prime raw wood.. we do. If we say you are going to get 2 heavy coats.. its done. If we say your going to get A100 exterior paint.. we use that product. If not available WE UPGRADE YOUR PAINT AT NO EXTRA COST! Not to mention we are licensed bonded and insured to $1,000,000. This protects you from unexpected circumstances. Next time you get an estimate from someone “cheaper” you should really think twice about what cheaper really means.. You could be getting your self into a sketchy situation.
The MOST IMPORTANT part of an exterior paint job
Exterior Painting
So, you’re in the market to get the exterior of your house painted. You decide to check out Yelp, Facebook or just Google local painters in your area. Deciding the top 3 painters to get an estimate from can be a tough decision. What makes a painter great and stand out from all the rest? PREP WORK! Taking the time to thoroughly pressure wash and remove all loose paint / debris is imperative to the longevity of your paint job. Second comes scraping ALL LOOSE PAINT and caulking. This weatherproofs the exterior and not only protects from water damage, it also keeps the creepy crawlers out of your home. If loose paint was left and another product applied over the top, the new paint will only be as good as the layer below. Lastly, before any paint can be applied, all raw wood MUST be primed. If this step is skipped the finish coat will not adhere properly and will cause premature failing of your paint job. In summary, if you decide to hire a company that cuts corners or wants to offer you “a cheap deal”, you might want to think twice about where your money is being spent.
